Elementary and high schools

Yorkton has a great network of primary and secondary educational facilities to provide excellent educational opportunities not only to the residents of the city but also to the neighboring communities.

Yorkton has four public elementary schools and one regional high school, operated by Good Spirit School Division. Yorkton also has four Catholic elementary and one Catholic high school, operated by Christ the Teacher Roman Catholic Separate School Division.

The enrollment in all the elementary schools in Yorkton for the 2012-13 school year is 2,204, and for high schools is 1,175 students.

School programs encourage participation and provide instructions in recreation activities and sports including volleyball, basketball, football (senior grades), track and field, baseball and softball.

Parkland College

For many years, Parkland College has been serving the East Central region of Saskatchewan. Its five campuses are located in Canora, Esterhazy, Fort Qu’Appelle, Melville (administration office) and Yorkton.

Parkland College’s post-secondary opportunities include both university and technical skills programs. The College provides the largest off-campus university program of any regional college in the province. Students can enroll in a variety of university classes from both University of Saskatchewan and University of Regina. Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Adult Education are two programs that students can complete at Parkland College.

Parkland College works closely with employers to offer a variety of technical training programs which meet the labour needs of the province. Students can enroll in a variety of SIAST credit courses in areas including health, technology, education, business and trades.
